Short answer: for a typical 2,000 square foot house in the Piedmont Triad, a new roof from Statewide Roofing Specialist in 2026 typically costs $8,500 to $10,500 (Basic), $10,000 to $13,000 (Standard) or $12,000 to $16,000 (Premium). Those are real ranges from our own jobs in Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, Lexington and the towns around them, not national averages.

This post is the quick version: what those numbers mean for your house and how to budget. For the full line-by-line breakdown of what’s in each option, per-square pricing and how to compare quotes, see our Triad roof replacement cost guide.

2026 Roof Prices in the Triad at a Glance

Basic$8,500 to $10,500A complete architectural-shingle roof system with warranty, on a budget
Standard$10,000 to $13,000An upgraded shingle, plus ice and water shield in all valleys and around penetrations, and drip edge
Premium$12,000 to $16,000Everything in Standard, plus lifetime-warranty pipe boots and ice and water shield along all dormers and walls with step flashing

Every option includes tear-off, disposal of the old shingles and job-site waste, synthetic felt and starter shingles. We don’t install 3-tab shingles; every roof starts with architectural shingles.

Why “Square Footage of the House” Is Only a Starting Point

Roofers price by the square, which is 100 square feet of roof surface. Your roof is usually bigger than your floor plan because of pitch and overhangs. On a simple gable roof we typically see about $375 to $1,000 per square, depending on the roofing system. On a complex roof it starts around $450 per square and runs up to about $1,500 per square.

Five Things That Move Your Number Up or Down

  1. Roof complexity. Hips take more ridge cap, valleys get ice and water shield, and dormers need new step flashing. Each feature adds material and labor.
  2. Pitch. Steep roofs take longer and need more safety setup.
  3. Layers to tear off. A second (or third) old layer means more labor and more disposal.
  4. Decking condition. We replace the first two sheets of rotten OSB free; after that it’s $50 per sheet of 7/16 OSB, so you know the cost before we start.
  5. The system you choose. Architectural shingles sit at the low end. Designer shingles such as GAF Woodland and standing seam metal sit at the high end. See our Lewisville GAF Woodland case study and our metal roofing page.

How to Budget for a New Roof in 2026

  • Start with a free inspection. A real measurement of your roof beats any online calculator. We photograph the roof and price all three options so you can compare.
  • Plan for the roof you have, not the house. If your house has several hips, valleys or dormers, budget toward the upper end of each range.
  • Decide on gutters at the same time. If your gutters are worn out, we make custom seamless gutters in-house and can do both on one project.
  • Ask about financing. We offer roof financing through Improvifi.
  • Compare warranties, not just prices. Every roof gets our 5-year standard workmanship warranty. As a GAF Master Elite contractor (the top 2% of roofing contractors) we also offer the GAF Silver Pledge with 10-year workmanship coverage and the GAF Golden Pledge with 25-year workmanship coverage, so workmanship warranties run up to 25 years.

Repair or Replace?

Not every roof needs replacing. If the damage is limited and the rest of the roof has life left, a roof repair can make more sense. If the shingles are worn out across the whole roof, a replacement is usually the better long-term spend. We’ll tell you which one we’d do if it were our house.

If Storm Damage Is Involved

We document the damage with photos, can be there when your adjuster inspects the roof, and review the insurance estimate with you. Your insurance company decides what is covered; we don’t promise any claim outcome, and you work with your own insurer on your claim. See what to expect after a hail storm in NC.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a new roof cost in the Triad in 2026?

For a typical 2,000 sq ft house, our three options typically run $8,500 to $10,500 (Basic), $10,000 to $13,000 (Standard) and $12,000 to $16,000 (Premium). Your exact price depends on your roof’s size, complexity, pitch, layers and the components you choose.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. Estimates and roof inspections are free. We look at your roof, photograph it and give you a written price for each option.

What’s included in every price?

Tear-off, disposal of the old shingles and job-site waste, synthetic felt and starter shingles. The first two sheets of rotten OSB decking are replaced free; after that it’s $50 per sheet of 7/16 OSB.

Why did my neighbor pay a different price?

Two houses with the same square footage can have very different roofs. Hips, valleys, dormers, steep pitch and extra layers to tear off all add material and labor.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, through Improvifi. See roof financing.

What warranty comes with a new roof?

Every roof gets our 5-year standard workmanship warranty. As a GAF Master Elite contractor (the top 2% of roofing contractors) we also offer the GAF Silver Pledge with 10-year workmanship coverage and the GAF Golden Pledge with 25-year workmanship coverage, so workmanship warranties run up to 25 years.
