Standing Seam Metal Roofs, Made In-House
Most roofers order metal panels from a supplier and wait. We make ours. Statewide Roofing Specialist owns a standing seam roll-forming machine, and we bring it to the job site and run each panel to the exact length of the roof run it covers. No stock lengths, no extra end laps, no waiting on a shipment.

- Panels roll-formed on site on our own standing seam machine, cut to each roof run.
- Trim made by hand: gable trim, drip edge, valley metal and Z-bars, bent to fit your roof instead of forced into place.
- Hidden fasteners. On standing seam, the fasteners sit under the seams instead of going through the face of the panel.
- Warranty: manufacturer paint warranties (40 years on our Sparta job) plus our own workmanship warranty.

Residential Metal Roof Installation
While the overall metal roof cost might be higher than other roofs like shingles or shakes, the benefits they offer make them a popular choice for a wide range of structure types. Statewide Roofing Specialist is proud to provide a number of different metal roofing options, including:
1. Standard Seam Coating
Standard Seam Coating is a highly durable and popular choice for most roofing applications. This metal roofing is characterized by its seamless panels, creating a sleek and modern appearance that complements a wide range of architectural styles.
2. Metal Tiles or Shingles
Metal Tiles or Shingles have gained popularity in the residential roofing sector, offering a balance of durability and aesthetics. This roofing style combines the traditional appearance of roofing shingles with the benefits of metal construction.
Signature Project: Standing Seam Metal Roofs in Sparta, NC

One of Statewide’s signature jobs is a two-property estate in Sparta, NC, in the mountains of Alleghany County. The old roofs were green ribbed metal with exposed fasteners, the kind where every screw goes through the face of the panel and relies on a rubber washer to stay dry. We replaced them with 1.5-inch snap-lock standing seam metal roofing in 26 gauge Hartford Green, which hides its fasteners under the seams. The project came to over $100,000 and was finished in late 2025. The job covered over 120 squares across five buildings and took about four weeks with a crew of up to 13. That job carries a 40-year paint warranty from the manufacturer on its standing seam panels plus a 20-year workmanship warranty from Statewide on that installation; warranty terms on other roofs depend on the system installed and are spelled out in each estimate.
Why not just coat the old roofs? The homeowners originally planned to coat the old metal with a green-tinted silicone coating. Before they spent the money, Terry called a silicone manufacturer and learned that a silicone coating attracts dirt and wouldn’t stay clean. On a property where looks matter, that was the wrong answer, so the homeowners chose to replace the roofs with standing seam instead. If a coating is the right call for your roof, we’ll tell you; if it isn’t, we’ll tell you that too.
- Main property: the house, the carriage house and a gazebo, all in standing seam.
- Second property: the house and a barn, also in standing seam.

Panels Made on Our Own Machine, Trim Made by Hand
We custom-made every standing seam panel for this job on our own standing seam machine, so the panels were formed for this roof instead of ordered off a shelf. Our crew also hand-made all of the trim metal: gable trim, drip edge, valley metal, Z-bars, everything. On a roof with this many hips, valleys, dormers and porch roofs, trim made to fit is what keeps the details tight and the lines clean.

Types of Metal Roofing
At Statewide Roofing Specialist, we take our job as a leading provider of metal roofing solutions throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee seriously. We offer extensive experience and a wide variety of different roofing options to fit any style or aesthetic. Let’s look at just a few of the metal roofing options we offer:
1. Standing Seam Metal Roofing
This roofing option is known for its durability, weather resistance, and energy efficiency. Its distinctive vertical seams that connect the panels provide a clean and contemporary look, enhancing the curb appeal of any home with a modern flair. Statewide Roofing Specialist offers a variety of standing seam profiles, allowing homeowners to choose the one that complements their architectural style.
2. Corrugated Metal Roofing
For those seeking a more traditional and cost-effective metal roofing option, Corrugated Metal Roofing is an excellent choice. The characteristic wavy pattern not only adds a classic touch to the roof but also enhances its strength and durability. Statewide Roofing Specialist ensures that their corrugated metal roofing options are not only aesthetically pleasing but also perform exceptionally well in varying weather conditions.
3. Zinc Metal Roofing
Zinc metal roofing has gained popularity for its unique blend of durability, corrosion resistance, and low maintenance requirements. It protects homes from the elements while developing an attractive patina over time. This natural weathering process adds character to the roof, making it a standout feature of any residential property.
4. Aluminum and Copper Metal Roofing
For homeowners who prioritize a lightweight yet durable roofing material, Aluminum and Copper Metal Roofing are ideal choices. Statewide Roofing Specialist provides these options, combining the benefits of low weight, corrosion resistance, and a distinctive appearance.
5. Metal Roof Coatings
Statewide Roofing Specialist goes beyond traditional roofing materials by offering Metal Roof Coatings as a protective layer for existing metal roofs. These coatings serve multiple purposes, including enhancing weather resistance, preventing corrosion, and improving energy efficiency. Homeowners can extend the lifespan of their metal roofs and reduce maintenance costs with these advanced coating solutions.
How Much Does a Metal Roof Cost?
Metal sits at the top of the price range. On a simple gable roof, our prices run from about $375 per square for architectural shingles up to about $1,000 per square for standing seam metal. Complex roofs with hips, valleys and dormers cost more per square, up to about $1,500. A square is 100 square feet of roof.
The biggest factors are roof size and complexity, the metal gauge and profile, the color and finish, and how much trim the roof needs. Because we roll-form panels and bend trim ourselves, you’re not paying for a supplier’s custom-panel lead time. See our Triad roof replacement cost guide for how metal compares with shingle options, and roof financing through Improvifi.
Commercial and Church Roofs
We also roof commercial buildings and churches, including flat and low-slope roofs. For one Winston-Salem church we replaced an old black membrane roof that was ponding water with a new 60 mil GAF TPO membrane, new drains and vent caps. See our church roofing page and commercial roofing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you make your own standing seam panels?
Yes. We own a standing seam roll-forming machine and run the panels on site, cut to the length of each roof run.
Do you make the trim too?
Yes. Our crew hand-makes the trim metal, including gable trim, drip edge, valley metal and Z-bars, to fit each roof.
What standing seam did you use in Sparta?
26 gauge, 1.5-inch snap-lock standing seam in Hartford Green, over 120 squares across five buildings.
Should I coat my old metal roof or replace it?
It depends on the roof. On our Sparta job, a silicone coating was the original plan, but silicone attracts dirt and wouldn’t stay clean, so the homeowners replaced with standing seam. We’ll give you an honest answer after a free inspection.
What warranty comes with a metal roof?
The metal carries the manufacturer’s paint warranty (40 years on our Sparta job), plus a workmanship warranty from Statewide. On Sparta, that was 20 years.
How much does a standing seam roof cost?
On a simple gable roof, about $1,000 per square (100 square feet), and more on complex roofs. A free inspection gives you a real number.
